Updaty Update!

"Been a while, why not update?", I thought, 5 minutes ago.

So yeahh, a few things! First, we now have Clickteam Fusion 2.5, the updated version of MMF2, meaning we can do even more things with our games, which is great.

Secondly, yes, we are still working hard on games! We have about 3 awesome projects in mind that we can't wait to show you guys, stay tuned!

I'm sorry about the hiatus after CCA 2. We took a short break, but we're back now.

Thanks for reading, and stay tuned for our future games.

This is a question that gets asked so often it's almost as if it never gets asked at all.
I'll give you a hint: no.

"How do you make games then," I hear you screaming from the rooftops. "Doesn't making games require literal witchcraft?"

I'll give you a hint: no.

We make our games with a program called MULTIMEDIA FUSION 2 and it's basically the best thing to ever exi-

"I THOUGHT MY MOTHER WAS THE GREATEST THING TO EVER EXIST" Firstly, it's rude to interrupt. Secondly, fine. Sure, whatever. This is basically the best thing to ever exist that is ALSO a game making program.

With such features as:

BUILT IN ART TOOL - Change lights in your screen to different colors to make shapes appear! Supports transparency, alpha, and animations!

RIDICULOUSLY EASY INTERFACE - I can use it! If I can, you need a negative number of brain cells if you have gone through the tutorial and can't figure anything out. Layers are Ctrl + K, by the by the by.

LITERAL WITCHCRAFT - I lied. I do use witchcraft.

REALLY REALLY REALLY POWERFUL - This program can launch games the size of your average triple A title in seconds as opposed to the 30 seconds+ you normally have to wait. On top of that, the built-in expression editor that understands complex math will ensure that you can do pretty much whatever you want.

LOW PRICE - A hundred dollars gets you pretty much everything you need to deliver to a large audience. After that, it's just blood, sweat, and selling your soul to Clickteam. I will provide papers to do so if asked. Buying a product also gets you a 50% discount on all future products!

Proof I'm not full of crap:

This was also made with MMF2:

Hey, hey, hey, happy Halloween!

We've, ah, "finished" CCA2 in time. Now, don't get scared off by those quotation marks. They're friendly. They won't hurt you, we've trained them not to bite. All we're missing is a couple songs. The game is fully functional and beatable. Some music is placeholder music. If you find a spot where there is no music, that pocket of silence is not going to be in the final product. Almost every part of the game should have music when it's finished. When we get the real music, we'll update it, and you all will get the full release.

With Gumdrop defeated, Candy Cane makes his way back to Sweetsville. But wait! A letter left behind tells Candy Cane that everyone in Sweetsville has been kidnapped by Black Licorice, Gumdrop's boss! Fight through 5 worlds, facing shadows, robots, bats, bears, turrets, and more in an attempt to save the citizens of Sweetsville! I won't sugarcoat it - you're in for one heck of an adventure! Have fun, and remember: DEATH IS SWEET!

Update!... again.

Hi - Jerome here. Time for a well needed update. First off, CCA 2! I originally planned for it to come out before October, but I underestimated how much work we had left. But, we are almost done! So close, I can taste it...

Candy Cane Adventure 2 will (probably!) come out on Halloween!

Also, we have somebody that will help with music in our games. Great! More info about that later.

Snip, Snip

In response to a game jam on Gamejolt, I made a thing.

Enter Snip, Snip, probably one of the only games you will ever see with no words whatsoever. Anywhere. Yet, I still tell a story. That WAS the challenge of the game jam, after all!

The Detective lived a happy life with The Girlfriend, whiling their days away at the agency, sending love letters to each other (despite seeing each other every day) and meandering around The Detective's apartment. However, one day, The Girlfriend doesn't show up for work. The Detective still receives his love letter, however. Upon opening it, he discovers a picture of the couple on their anniversary, cut in half between them. The Detective initially takes this as a breakup, but then he notices a bloodstain on the envelope...

Join The Detective in his journey to learn the truth about what happened to his significant other, battling the kidnapper and his own grief to prevail. Will you make the cut, or will your life be cut short?

Get the game now on Gamejolt: Click here!

Update: We're still alive and working!

Okay, we haven't posted in a while, but don't worry, we're still working hard on our games.
In faaact, Ethan has something awesome to post about later, stay tuned!

Candy Cane Adventure 2 has been on a small hiatus lately, but know we're still working on it!
I'm not entirely sure of the release date for it, but I am pretty sure it'll be here before October.

CCA2 News

As CCA2 draws ever nearer, I saw the opening for a great series and we decided to build upon the story.

With as much great material this leaves us to create, we've decided that the CCA series is now going to be one of our main projects, alongside the ExoGenesis Saga! We've got some more plans for the series, so prepare yourself...

Until next time, Bunkers!

Spooky Fun for Everyone!

Well, maybe not quite so spooky, but a little chilling!

So I'm working on another side project for you all. I call it Mansion of the Vengeful. It's a top down shooter where a house full of evil spirits threatens you! The spirits previously claimed your father when he attempted to beat the evil back, so now it is your duty to avenge him! Are you up to the challenge?

Until next time, Bunkers!

We aren't slowing down yet!

Coming up... momentarily, probably, is Jerome's first game and a side project to TBS: Candy Cane Adventure! Play as a candy cane who tries its best to navigate a tricky labyrinth of sweet, sugary candy! I've played through about half of it myself, and it's pretty hard! Find the download link in the roster soon after I post this, and remember: DEATH IS SWEET!

NOTE: While I want to point out that I did fix some of this, this is Jerome's game. He made... almost 100% of this (with the exception of music and almost all of the sprites) and I did almost nothing to contribute. This is not me wanting to distance myself from it; it isn't bad! I just want people to put credit where credit is due.

NOTE 2: We had some trouble with the game, so it's going to go up sometime tomorrow. Check that download roster!

So, some quick notes...

Alright, so I want to pre-emptively clear something up real fast. When I say we're rebooting Top Bunk Studios, I just mean the look. We're still gonna make the ExoGenesis Saga series of games, beginning with Total Darkness (which ought to be easy enough to do in the program we use, currently).

Secondly, I made a small game for a class presentation on the 90s. It's short (around 5 minutes long, but could be longer, depending on your skill level), and isn't THAT hard, but the second level is particularly tough in my opinion. I'll post a link to the game momentarily. Prepare your browser!

Hello there! My name is Jerome, I'm the guy Ethan was just talking about. Me and Ethan are going to be making some awesome games together. In fact, I'm already working on a game and I'm almost finished! I will be sure to post about it soon. Well, that's all I have to say for now. I'm be making some more posts soon!

Rebooting the old TBS magic!

Some but not all of you might remember a blog I started around 3 years ago now called The Top Bunk Studios Dev Blog. Well, I have exciting news: We're back for round 2! The most exciting news is that I said "We're" instead of "I'm" for a good reason!

Yes, yes, yes, we have a new member! The other members, they don't count anymore. I was the only one who wanted to stick through to the end, anyways. They're all gone. But I have a new slave now, and his name is Jerome Jones. I'm gonna have him post an introduction post here shortly after I post this. I'm sure you'll all get along swimmingly!

In an effort to reboot the old hunk of junk name Top Bunk Studios, I deleted all of the old posts, and will probably change the template when I post this. We're starting from scratch, and this time, this scratch is guaranteed to break the skin! Okay, well, that was a poor metaphor, but you get the idea.

Until next time, Bunkers!
