Happy New Years / New project has a Gamejolt page!

Happy new year, Bunkers!

We have a Gamejolt page for the project we talked about last post! There will be a lot more frequent updates there, so check it out if you want a steadier flow of news!

This project is called You Are In a Maze, or YAIAM for short. You play as Zack, an eternal pessimist who is trapped in the maze-like afterlife when he tries to save his girlfriend! There's quite a bit more info on the page itself, so I recommend you go check it out!

Until next time, Bunkers!

New project in the works!

I wanted to hold off a little bit before telling you all this, but eventually I broke down, and here we are.

Not gonna name-drop yet, but know that it involves saving your significant other from a death maze, with multiple upgrade routes, tons of bonus levels, characters you can relate to, and bosses that will take your breath away. (See, I felt kinda bad about there only being like 3 total bosses in KLU, with most of them being repeats of the same one in a different way. I'm making up for it now.)

Stay tuned for more information!

Until next time, Bunkers!

For those who don't know, our entry to the Weirder Stuff Game Jam has been out!

About a month ago, we made a game in 2 days for the Weirder Stuff Game Jam (which was hosted by Clickteam!)

"In this game, you control two siblings that decided to go ghost hunting in the middle of the night, at a place called Midnight Heights. Skippy, the brother, can use his flashlight to see ghosts, but has no weapon to attack them. Jin, the sister, can use her knife to attack the ghosts, but can't see them very well without Skippy's flashlight.

You have limited flashlight power, so don't over use the flashlight...
Have fun, and enjoy your stay at beautiful Midnight Heights!"

If you haven't checked it out yet, here it is!

Monday Update #7 - Lotsa stuff happened!

Well, we were supposed to have a Monday Update out earlier, but Jerome forgot to write one. :|

But, we got some stuff to go over now, so that's cool!

Firstly, two minigames, both by Jerome.

JETPACK ELEVATOR: Defend Earth from constant assault by evil robots by wielding your trusty guns and jetpack!

STRAWBERRY HEAVEN: Help a little strawberry find its way to Strawberry Heaven, a real place that apparently exists! Dodge knives and collect strawberries to find your way to your goal! Made for a Strawberry Game Jam on Gamejolt!

Finally, Keep Looking Up is now available on! Get TBS's best gravity-block-stackin' adventure on another website that ISN'T Gamejolt! Pretty sweet, right? Get it here:

Stay Up is out!

The game we've been working on for a couple months is out!

"In this #horror #pointandclick game, you must try to stay up for over 60 hours while trying to keep away what the "Insomniac Forums" call "sleep deprived hallucinations." The longer you stay awake, the worse the hallucinations get...

There are 3 different nights, all with harder modes. Each night takes place at a different time and location, and has different mechanics. Try out the hard modes to get a look at the Insomniac Forums, and see the minds behind the people who competitively stay up...

There's a secret waiting to be revealed if you 100% the game!"

Here's the download link, enjoy the game!

Stay Tuned!

Heyo, Jerome here! It's been a while, and we haven't had any Monday updates because we've been busy...

Something is coming though, very soon. Stay tuned, it's gonna be good...

I wish I had more to say, but I don't want to spoil anything. Just know that it's going to be here very soon!

Monday Update #6 - Eh

Alright, so there wasn't a Monday Update last week. We were doing things, and not much in the way of progress really happened. I can't do a Monday Update on progress that didn't happen. But, progress was made THIS week, so hey, cool!

Stay Up is somewhere around 75% complete. We're about 80% done with the game, with Night 1 and 2 complete, and Night 3 being about a fourth of the way done. After that, we'll need to do a little bit of polish, and the game will be done.

Also, another school project is coming soon. So that's pretty cool.

Oh, and that reminds me, school will be starting for me again soon. I'll have a lot on my plate, but I absolutely will not drop this. Things will continue as normal.

Until next time, Bunkers!

Lil Update

Yo, Jerome here. I wanted to talk about a few things.

Firstly, Our FNaF fan game won't be out tomorrow. I never planned for it to even really be near completion by tomorrow, but that's just what Ethan wrote :P

Secondly, it's not much of a FNaF fan game. Just a game inspired by it with similar gameplay. It doesn't use any FNaF characters or anything.

Third, it's not too short. There's 3 Nights that have different locations and mechanics, with each having harder modes. That's 6 nights in total. It has a decent amount of variety because there's 3 different locations that have some different mechanics!

Finally, have a screenshot and a title drop!

                                                                             Stay Up

See ya, and I hope you guys are excited for this project, it's nothing major, but it's a cool little thing!

Monday Update #5 - Whoops! This one is a bit late...

This was posted roughly 7 and a half hours after the time it should have been released! Sorry about that! I was away and forgot to write something.

Anyways, attention has yet again been diverted from the other project, we've started work on a small FNAF fangame. Should be finished by the time the next Monday Update comes out. Very small, very short, shouldn't take up much time, but it was a cool idea so we decided to roll with it. We'll get back to our regularly scheduled programming eventually.

Sorry about the delay, and until next time, Bunkers!

Monday Update #4 - Back to normalcy

Alright, now that Keep Looking Up is out of the way - and, good news, it was our most popular game yet - we're going back to our earlier project before we got a bit sidetracked. Honestly, it's still a bit too early in development to REALLY show anything off, so I'll leave you with just a couple small screenshots.

Until next time, Bunkers!

Monday Update #3 - Keep Looking Up is finally released!

Yup, it's here, in all of it's about-3-hours-long-depending-on-your-skill-level glory!

Keep Looking Up is a puzzle-platformer...

Well, can you call it a platformer if you can't jump?

Keep Looking Up is a puzzle game with platforming elements that places you in the shoes of a young pixie, the only healthy pixie left after a plague hit all of your town. Humans threw the pixies down a hole centuries ago, and built a labyrinth to keep them trapped down there. It is your task to traverse the dangers of the labyrinth, while navigating a power struggle between the two dungeon guardians, the rude but logical Error, and the helpful but wishy-washy Scrawl. Hopefully, a cure awaits you on the surface. But is there even a surface anymore?

Get to the bottom (or is it the top?) of the mystery and find a cure for your kind in Keep Looking Up!

Now that Keep Looking Up is finally out of the way, it's back to our previous project.

Keep Looking Up Twitter

Hey, Jerome here! Things are going smoothly. Keep Looking Up is almost here... I think this is by far our best project yet.

I made a twitter for the game, why not?

Get ready... Monday.

Just a progress check, really - Monday Update #2

KLU is coming along nicely, we've got 2 of the 3 endings finished, all that's left is a final boss fight, the 3rd ending finished up, and some polish. Should be finished by the next Monday Update.

We had to drop out of that game jam. What with the time being spent on KLU, and the time needed to get the resources we would need for our idea, we just wouldn't have been able to finish on time. Next time, maybe.

Have some screenshots!

Well, that's pretty much it for this week. Hopefully, next week, we'll have the game ready. Jerome's making a trailer, too, so watch out for that!

Until next time, Bunkers!

Happy Fourth of July! - Monday Update #1

Heya! Ethan here.

Happy Fourth of July, for those of you who celebrate it. Otherwise, good morning! Having a good day?

So, I wasn't able to get quiiiiiite so much done this week as I would have liked to. My mouse broke, so I got a new one, and this new one is even less functional than the old one. Haven't been able to get a new one yet. It's only barely functional, so I've had to resort to using MouseKeys. It's very unwieldy. Blech.

But, I will tell you one thing. We entered a game jam. We've got a game already planned out for it. I'll link you all to it:

Luckily, it doesn't start for a while, so we should be able to, at least mostly, finish up our... other project. Alright, fine, I won't keep it a secret anymore. This IS your surprise, after all...

We've got a demo for you here! I did a sneaky little title drop last week: It's called Keep Looking Up. It's just a demo of a few levels, nothing too fancy, but hopefully you'll all enjoy it. I know we've enjoyed making it, so far! It's a good mile or so ahead of everything we've made to date...

Alright, well, until next time, Bunkers!

This has been a long time coming.

Alright, you guys, I'm surprised it took us this long to finally realize that this is something we should probably be doing. Starting next week, you can expect an update from us every Monday at 11am EST, or 8am Pacific. We know that the silence between posts can kinda stretch on for a while, and we do want to be transparent, so we're gonna start updating more often, telling you of what progress we have made. Screenshots occasionally, maybe. Sound good?

To try and start this up on a high note, we're going to give you a surprise next week. It isn't that game we've been talking about releasing, either. Not quite. But, we're sure you'll like it anyways.

Until next time, Bunkers!

More Details

We're getting closer and closer to releasing this new project we've been working on, and so far, I am REALLY feelin' it. It feels like we've taken the best parts of everything we've made so far and assembled them into something far better than the sum of its parts. I've surprised myself, and surpassed every expectation I have for what we make. I feel proud of it, much more so than anything else we've done.

It's about halfway done.

I won't reveal too much about it, but I'm certainly not going to leave you empty-handed! Posting something to this blog only to pat myself on the back is very well not going to leave you satisfied, and as well it shouldn't!

Here's what I will reveal:

  • 7 total chapters
  • 3 endings
  • 6 bosses (Full disclosure: 2 of these are remixes of the same boss with a different spin on them, so if you want you can call it 4 bosses)
  • The inability to jump
  • A color palette that won't make your eyes bleed for once
  • Completely in-house sound effects and music
  • A single moral choice that will have you asking yourself a personal question engraved into your very way of life
  • Pixies
  • A red squid thing with a Windows error symbol on its forehead
  • Pixie corpses

Things are only going uphill from here, so keep looking up!

Until next time, Bunkers.

General Update.

Hey, Jerm here. Time for an update! What's been going on? Multiple projects.
It's been getting crazy.

But, me and Ethan are really improving at games, I think. Things are getting good. Get ready. We have a project in the works that will come real soon. I honestly think it's good. Get excited!

Things are coming.

TBS: The Lost Files. Pack of small games!

Okay, so ever since we started making games, we've always made joke games, or things that we just canned, etc. This is a collection of our games that we haven't released. Most of them are just jokes.

Note about the pack from Ethan: We saw that we had hit 1,000, and we decided: How best to commemorate our successes than with our failures, and happy bits of the year gone by? So we gathered up what had failed, what had worked but needed to be improved on, and what we made and laughed at, and we put it in a .zip file. To celebrate our 1,000, you get to see where we went wrong, what we might have done to improve, and see the jokes that made us chuckle... or at least blow air through our nose. Our goal at TBS is to provide quality entertainment with a story and characters that stick with you. Our goal is also to be human. You deserve to see the failed side of us, and the more personal humorous side of us. We'd hardly be human if we were one-dimensional cardboard cutouts happily advertising our new bit of entertainment. We want you to see us for who we are, and we want you to get a glimpse into what makes us... us. Maybe we can scare your pants off. Maybe we can get you to giggle. Maybe we can make you say "neat!" Personally, I hope we can do all three. Please enjoy our failures, please enjoy our successes, and please enjoy our humor. I know we sure did.

This is just Version 1, if we ever come up with more games like these, we'll add them in updates.

There's a .txt file explaining each game, be sure to read it! Expect unfinished and very small games. Thanks for reading, and have fun playing these silly games.

NOTE ABOUT THE PACK (from Jerome): In a lot of these games there's flashing lights (like really intense flashing lights) and also sometimes really loud audio, especially in the Nerag.exe when you get a game over, there's music that can be really painful to listen to. (wasn't even done on purpose but apparently i'm really bad at 8 bit music right now lol. seems to be caused by a repeating music note that plays during the whole song) Be careful and don't hurt yourself! We would never put these (very rapid flashing lights and loud/painful audio that can hurt your ears) in an actual full game by us, so you only need to worry about it in this pack. Enjoy these weird games! (if you can even call them games)

(lol BTW we don't own the weird shrek video that's in the CCA 3 joke folder, here it is on YouTube:

Still alive and well!

I realized it's been a little while since our last update, so I decided to go ahead and make one.

Firstly, there's another game out.
It's another school project, a la Solid Steve, this time actually about something historical - Julius Caesar. It's a collection of minigames that tell the general overview of Caesar's life. You can find it in the download roster.

Secondly, we've broken a thousand pageviews! Woo! Thank you everybody for the support, we're super grateful for every view.

Thirdly, we have another project coming up which you might be hearing about soon. We won't give out any details yet, but we do have the exciting news that we've picked up a couple guests to go along for the ride with this one. We have Cogh, another game dev who agreed to do some art for us, and Jeff Miller, an animator previously involved with the Amnesia: The Dark Descent custom story The Great Work. I'm definitely excited.

Thanks again everyone for the support, and I'll see you next time, Bunkers!

New game coming tomorrow!

We have a new project we've been keeping secret until now! We've been working on this for a full year (since we began making games), and we think it's going to blow the socks off of everything else we've made so far! Honestly, I don't think we'll ever be able to top it. Stay tuned for tomorrow to see the fruits of our efforts!

Until next time Bunkers,
Ethan Garen
